Lorain,OH : Man sitting on tracks killed by train near Oberlin Avenue in Lorain on September, Saturday 16th 2017

The Lorain Police Department is investigating a fatal train versus pedestrian collision Sept. 16.

According to a release from the department, they were called to the Norfolk Southern Corporation tracks near Oberlin Avenue and West 14th Street at 4:02 p.m.

A Norfolk Southern train was traveling eastbound on the tracks when it approached a man sitting on them. The engineer sounded the horn and bells and initiated the emergency brakes to avoid striking the man, but collided with the man killing him, the release said.

The man was identified as 46-year-old Kenneth Fox, of Lorain. His family has been contacted and his body was transported to the county morgue by the Lorain County Coroner’s Office, the release said.


The road was closed for three hours while officers investigated and processed physical evidence. They were assisted by the Lorain Police Auxiliary and Norfolk Southern Police Department, the release said.
