Edmond, OK : 16-year-old student died in a motorcycle crash near 2nd St. and Vista in Edmond on Monday night, January 26, 2015

Edmond North High School is providing counselors after a 16-year-old student died in a motorcycle crash on Monday night. Police across the Metro on Tuesday responded to more motorcycle crashes. They're all tragic reminders for drivers that we need to be on the lookout for bikers on the road.

Police say 16-year-old Loreane Ingram was killed in the crash near 2nd St. and Vista in Edmond. Police say around 8:30 p.m. a truck made a u-turn near the intersection and the motorcycle carrying Ingram and 40-year-old William Cain crashed into it. Both Cain and Ingram were thrown off the motorcycle. Ingram was then hit by an oncoming car and died at the scene. Cain is still recovering at OU Presbyterian.

Edmond School District leaders say Ingram was an orchestra student and played the violin. Counselors will be on hand again Wednesday for any students or staff who need them.

At this time police are not saying who, if anyone, was at fault in the crash. No charges have been filed for either driver.

As winter changes over to spring, we'll be seeing a lot more motorcycles on the roads. It's a good time to remind drivers to be on the lookout.

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation has some key messages for drivers. The organization says that half of all fatal motorcycle crashes involve another vehicle and most of the time the motorcyclist is not a fault. Motorcycles are easily hidden in blind spots or, depending on your surrounding, they may blend in. The organization also says it's hard to judge how close a motorcycle is or how fast it's going because it is a small vehicle. The MSF suggests drivers always assume a motorcycle is closer than it appears.
