An Alto woman has died following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 69 north of Alto Thursday afternoon, according to DPS reports.
Blondria Dee Griffin, 55, was pronounced dead by Cherokee County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Judge Rodney Wallace after she was transported to UT Health – Jacksonville.
At about 1 p.m. Thursday, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 69, 1.5 miles north of Alto, said Sgt. Jean Dark, the public information officer for the Tyler DPS office.
A preliminary crash investigation revealed that the driver of a 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck, Benjamin James Tissee, 29, of Waxahachie, was traveling north along US 69 in the inside lane behind a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Griffin.
Griffin's vehicle had slowed down to make a left turn onto County Road 2236 when it was struck from behind by the pickup, according to the report, which noted that “the driver of the Ford failed to control his speed.”
