Dover ,DE : 19 -Years old Maryland woman killed after hit by a car while jogging near the intersection of North State Street on Monday evening ,March 16th 2015

Dover police say a 19-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car while jogging.

Authorities say Brittany Paige of Dundalk, Maryland, was struck by a vehicle shortly before 5 p.m. Monday near the intersection of North State Street and Walker Road.

Investigators say Paige had jogging on the southbound side State Street, and that when traffic stopped at the Walker Road intersection, she walked between the stopped vehicles.

Witnesses said Paige was looking at her cellphone, with ear buds in her ears, at the time.

Police say she then began to jog across the northbound lanes of State Street without looking for oncoming traffic and was hit by a car that had turned left from Walker Road onto State Street.
