Council Bluffs, IA : Woman injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Council Bluffs on Thursday, February 19, 2015

A Carter Lake woman injured in a crash last week died at Nebraska Medicine on Thursday.

On Feb. 13, officers and the Council Bluffs Fire Department were called to a multi-vehicle crash in the 1600 block of West Broadway around 10 p.m.

Numerous people were injured at the scene.

Bertha Weinfurtner, 84, was a passenger in a Chrysler Town and County involved in the crash.

Evidence at the scene indicated the minivan crossed into the westbound lanes and struck an Elantra head on. The Elantra then spun around and struck a CRV.

Weinfurtner, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Nebraska Medicine. She died Thursday.

Witnesses indicated that speed may have been a factor in the crash, which is being investigated by the Council Bluffs Police Department Traffic Unit.
