STEPHENS CITY, VA : 2 injured in two-vehicle crash on Thursday, 11th October 2018

A driver was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Tasker Road west of the Cross Keys Drive intersection just before 11 a.m. Thursday.

Lt. Warren Gosnell, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office traffic division commander, said the crash involved a westbound Cadillac Escalade on Tasker and a small, eastbound Perry Engineering dump truck. He said witnesses told police that before the crash the Escalade had crossed the double yellow line and nearly struck a van before crossing the yellow line again.

The Escalade struck the truck on the right corner of the driver’s side of the vehicle. Gosnell said the Escalade driver, who had to be extricated from the vehicle, suffered a damaged spleen, two broken ribs and a broken arm. The driver, whose name Gosnell didn’t have, was hospitalized at Winchester Medical Center. The pickup driver was also hospitalized, but Gosnell said he didn’t appear to be seriously injured.

Gosnell said the odometer on the Escalade read 70 mph after the crash, and the driver and was charged with reckless driving by speed. The speed limit in the area is 45 mph.
