Odessa, TX : A three-vehicle wreck on Monday, August 7, 2017
A three-vehicle wreck at Andrews Highway and 37th Street injured an Ector County Independent School District police officer at 11:45 a.m. Monday. The Odessa Police Department is investigating.
Officer Leonard Hendon was transported to Medical Center Hospital with minor injuries, Odessa Police Department Spokesman Cpl. Steve LeSueur said.
As of late Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said Hendon was no longer listed as a patient.
LeSueur said Hendon, 65, was driving his ECISD unit southbound in the 3700 block of Andrews Highway.
Melanie T. Buehner, 41, pulled out of the Dollar General parking lot failing to yield right of way from a private drive and was struck by Henderson on the driver’s side of her 2005 black Dodge Dakota.
The collision pushed Buehner’s vehicle into a 2014 silver Toyota 4 Runner, which was northbound, driven by Maria Luna, 58.
Also in the Toyota was Abigail Shaw, 45, (front right), Monica Lopez, 42, (back left) and Shelia Williamson, 63 (back right).
Buehner was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way from a private drive, LeSueur said.
