Fort Wayne, IN : Victim of fatal semi crash identified on Thursday, January, 25th 2018
A 29-year-old Fort Wayne man has been identified as the victim of a two-vehicle crash at U.S. 30 and West County Line Road about 8 p.m. Thursday, the Allen County coroner's office said today.
Michael Charles Gonsior was the driver of the semi and died at the scene, the coroner's office said in a statement.
It said Gonsior died accidentally from blunt force trauma because of a motor vehicle crash. His death is the third in traffic crashes in Allen County so far this year.
Police have said the semi was going east on U.S. 30 and collided with a GMC Terrain going north on West County Line Road. They have said the semi flipped on its side.
The Terrain had a green light, according to Steve Stone, public information officer for the Allen County Sheriff's Department.
A mother and her two children in the Terrain had minor injuries and were taken to a hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County sheriff's department and the coroner's office.
