A woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle in an early-morning collision Tuesday in south Phoenix, police said.
At about 12:30 a.m., the Phoenix Police Department responded to reports of a fatal crash at the 4600 block of South 16th Street, Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Howard said.
Police identified the woman as Annamarie Garcia, 58.
Witnesses told police that Garcia suddenly stepped into the southbound lane without looking and was hit by a vehicle driving south.
The driver was a 19-year-old man, Howard said.
Howard said investigators do not believe speeding or impairment were factors in the collision, but they were still investigating.
