Newark, DE : Car crashes with school bus, several kids on board in Newark on Wednesday, October 19, 2016

Delaware State Police say they're investigating a crash involving a school bus with several children on board in Newark.

Police said in a statement that the crash involving a car and the bus happened just before 7 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Salem Church Road.

The News Journal reports that a Christiana Fire Company official says two adults were taken to an area hospital with injuries that aren't thought to be life-threatening. State police spokesman Cpl. Jeffrey Hale didn't immediately know the conditions of the students on the bus.

The intersection is closed to traffic and police are asking commuters to find alternate routes.
