Cole County, MO : Two motorists injured in Jefferson City collision on Wednesday, August 31, 2016
Two Jefferson City motorists were injured shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday when their cars collided at the intersection of Missouri 179 and U.S. 50.
Police report Marlene Atterberry, 63, was driving a car southbound on 179, ran a red light, and hit a northbound car driven by Carol I. Evers, 38, as it was making a protected left turn onto westbound 50 under a green arrow.
An ambulance transported Evers to Capital Region Medical Center with moderate injuries. A passenger in her car, Adam Evers, 33, reportedly was not injured.
Police said Atterberry received minor injuries, while a passenger in her car, Kaleb R. Fender, 10, was unhurt.
Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage. All occupants were wearing seat belts.
