WACO, TX : Authorities identify man killed in area highway crash on Friday, 26th July 2019
Authorities Friday identified a man killed in a crash involving an SUV and a pickup that also left a teenager dead as Ford James Stanton, Jr., 63, of Groesbeck.
The identity of the 16-year-old who died was not released.
An investigation showed that the Toyota pickup was southbound on Highway 31 at around 10 a.m. Thursday when Stanton, who was driving a Ford SUV, pulled onto the highway from Heritage Parkway and failed to yield the right of way to the truck, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ryan Howard said.
The pickup struck the SUV.
The accident happened just east of Axtell.
Stanton and the teenager, who was a passenger in the pickup, both died at the scene, Howard said.
The driver of the pickup, whose name has not been released, was flown to a local hospital with what Howard said were non-life-threatening injuries.
