Corpus Christi,TX : Minor injured in accidental shooting on Corpus Christi's Westside on January, Sunday 21st 2018

A juvenile was taken to the hospital after he was found with a gunshot wound Sunday morning.

Corpus Christi police responded to a shooting about 9:09 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of West Point Road, where they found the injured victim.

The victim initially told police he was sitting on his porch when a vehicle drove by and shot at him twice, Officer Gena Pena, a CCPD public information officer, said. One of the bullets struck him, but police would not say where he was injured.

He was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline for his injuries and is expected to live.

After investigating, police learned the shooting was not a drive-by late Sunday night, Pena said.

Police spoke to residents in the area and found it was an "accidental shooting," Pena said. Police would not say who fired the weapon.

Pena said police are not looking for suspects at this time.
