St. Joseph County, IN : Brooklyn driver dies in two-vehicle crash in Sherman Township on Wednesday, 1st August 2018

Michigan State Police are investigating a two-car crash in St. Joseph County that left a 24-year-old Brooklyn man dead.

Police said the crash occurred around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in Sherman Township about four miles outside Sturgis. The man was driving a Chevrolet HHR west on Featherstone Road, drove through the intersection and failed to stop at Shimmel Road. His vehicle was struck by a pickup truck that was headed north on Shimmel Road. After the collision, the HHR caught fire.

The driver of the pickup, a 48-year-old Sturgis man, was treated at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo and released.

Police withheld the identities of the drivers Wednesday, as they continue to investigate.
