Gainesville, FL : Driving in no-passing zone leads to accident, multiple citations on Friday, December 2nd, 2016
Various citations were filed against a Lake City man who was hospitalized following a Columbia County crash Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.Dustin Bailey, 23, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in serious condition, FHP reported in a press release.
The crash happened about 8:08 p.m. on Northwest Bascom Drive north of U.S. 90. Bailey was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer northbound when he moved into the southbound lane to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone, FHP reported.
Bailey then oversteered by pulling his wheel to the right, traveling back into the northbound lane before pulling the wheel back to the left.
The release states the Blazer overturned and ended up in a retention pond.
Bailey was flown by helicopter to Shands. The release states he was cited for driving left in a no-passing zone, failing to drive in the proper lane, not having a license and not wearing a seatbelt.
A passenger, Clifford Boyette-Carter, 19, of Lake City, was not injured.
