EVANSVILLE, IN : Driver ticketed in crash with U.S. 41 bridge on Tuesday, 21st January, 2020

A truck driver was ticketed after a Tuesday afternoon crash on the southbound U.S. 41 bridge over Pigeon Creek shut down a portion of the highway, which could remain closed for months.

Indiana Department of Transportation spokesman Jason Tiller called the damage extensive but said it's too early to attach a dollar figure to it.

“It’s not a good situation,” he said.

Tiller said inspectors looked at the truss bridge Wednesday morning but couldn't complete their inspection because they felt uncomfortable putting heavy machinery on it.

They'll be back in a few days with more specialized equipment, he added.
