A man was killed in a crash involving three vehicles and a semi truck in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Smyrna late Monday night.
The crash occurred near the Almaville Road entrance ramp around 11:30 p.m.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported 49-year-old Rudra Subba, of Antioch, was killed in the crash.
Subba was attempting to enter the interstate along with two other cars when he abruptly stopped before entering the roadway, witnesses told the THP.
The THP reported Subba’s Toyota Carolla was hit from behind by another vehicle, which pushed him into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer.
The crash caused a chain-reaction, causing a third vehicle to hit the second and spin it into the roadway, according to the preliminary crash report.
A passenger in Subba’s vehicle was injured and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Another driver was taken to TriStar Stonecrest Medical Center with unknown injuries.
The right lanes of the roadway near the crash were blocked while crews worked to clear the scene. The roadway fully reopened around 2:30 a.m.
