A deadly night on Jacksonville’s roads left victims dead in two crashes and a Florida Highway Patrol trooper injured in a third, according to law enforcement.
The first crash occurred just after 9:20 p.m. Sunday when a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck rear-ended Trooper A. Jordan’s Dodge Charger on Interstate 95 near Golfair Boulevard, the Highway Patrol said.
Jordan was was helping shut down the northbound left lane of the interstate for a construction project and had the cruiser’s emergency lights on, the Highway Patrol said. The pickup truck’s driver failed to see Jordan’s parked cruiser and slammed into its back bumper, with both vehicles sliding into the left emergency lane after impact.
Jordan was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with serious injuries, as was the 31-year-old pickup truck driver, Aaron Jeremy Klausman of Wellington, the FHP said. Jordan has since been released and is recovering at home as the crash investigation continues, officials said. The interstate’s northbound lanes were blocked for hours after the crash.

Officers arrived to find a man lying on the road after he had been hit by a vehicle. The pedestrian was killed. The driver remained on scene as detectives investigated the crash.
