Perkins Township, OH : Motorcyclist avoids crash on AUG 2, 2014
A motorcyclist narrowly avoided a collision Saturday evening when a woman swerved her car left of center on Patten Tract Road, forcing him to veer off the roadway.
Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Sandusky Post responded to the scene at about 7:45 p.m., just south of Bogart Road.
It seems the motorcyclist swerved and "laid down" his bike to avoid crashing, trooper Kent Jeffries said at the scene. He had a female passenger on his motorcycle.
The woman driving the car, meanwhile, overcorrected her mistake several times, swerving repeatedly before veering off the road and colliding with a large rock in a Patten Tract Road home's front yard.
All three involved sustained non-life threatening injuries.
An ambulance transported them to Firelands Regional Medical Center for treatment.
It's undetermined what caused the woman to swerve her car off the roadway, but it's possible she simply wasn't paying attention, Jeffries said.
"If (the motorcyclist) was just one second sooner, it could have been a lot worse," he said.
Jeffries was unsure if the pair on the motorcycle were wearing helmets during the incident, and he could not provide the names of the individuals involved.
