Oakridge,OR : One dead, one hurt in head-on crash near Oakridge Saturday on July, Saturday 1st 2017

A 65-year old Oakridge man died Saturday morning when his car was hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The accident happened at about 7:40 AM, according to Oregon State Police. First responders were called out to Highway 58 near milepost 29 just outside of Oakridge where Troopers say a 1999 Lexus Sedan driven by 45-year old Joseph Allen Boerste from Oakridge, crossed the center line at a bend in the road, and collided with a 2001 Honda CRV.
The man driving the CRV, 65-year old Richard Linn Montgomery from Oakridge, died at the scene. Boerste was taken to Riverbend Hospital with serious injuries.
OSP was assisted by Dexter Fire, Oakridge Fire, Oakridge PD and Oregon Department of Transportation. The highway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours.
Troopers did not say whether they believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident, or whether seat belts were used. OSP is still investigating the accident, and would like to talk to anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
