Butte, MT : Homestake crash leaves one man injured on Saturday July 12, 2014
The Montana Highway Patrol says a crash on one of the corners in the eastbound lanes of Homestake Pass, on I-90 Saturday sent one person to the hospital in Butte. The crash and backed up traffic for five miles at one point. It took about an hour and a half for crews to clear debris from the road and get both lanes open.
The MHP says a man driving a pickup and pulling a 35 foot travel trailer lost control and the trailer flipped over when the right rear tire on the truck separated from its rim. It wasn't a blow out, but when the tire came off the rim it wasn't possible for the driver to keep the vehicle under control. The crash happened around noon on the busy highway backing up traffic nearly back to the Delmo Lake exit.
By 12:45 a single lane of traffic was moving slowly through the area and past an overturned trailer. Montana Highway Patrol troopers, local ambulance and fire crews were all on hand.
