Authorities say a police officer was injured when a vehicle struck his cruiser on a central New Jersey highway.
South Brunswick police say the crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. Saturday on Route 130.
Patrolman First Class Peter Burdick was southbound and attempting to make a left turn on to Fresh Ponds Road when it was struck by a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Arpita Shah, of North Brunswick.
Burdick, a 21-year veteran of the force, was treated at a hospital for head and back injuries. Shah was not seriously injured.
Authorities say Shah told investigators that she could not stop because her brakes were not working. She received three motor vehicle summonses.
A telephone number for Shah could not be located Sunday.
