Two men who died in a car crash yesterday afternoon were speeding on a Far West Side service road when the driver lost control as he passed a tractor-trailer, police said.
The Dodge Avenger crashed into a tree and split in half, killing both men inside instantly.
Late last night, Columbus police identified the driver as Willie H. Harrison, 23, of the South Side, and his passenger as Milton Cayetano, 21, of New York.
The crash occurred at 2:45 p.m. on O’Brien Road, a service road for an office park. The road is just west of I-270 and south of Roberts Road.
Stephan Herron, who works at Scriptel Corp., said a number of people ran out of offices there to see whether they could help. They quickly knew there was nothing they could do.
“I can’t imagine how someone could go so fast on this road,” Herron said.
