A Mineral teen died after a car crash Wednesday afternoon in Louisa County.
Matthew L. Hensley, 18, was the driver and only occupant in the vehicle. His vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree just after 12:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Virginia State Police.
An investigation by a state trooper shows that the 1987 Dodge pickup truck was traveling south on Route 522 when the vehicle ran off the road to the right, hit a tree and caught fire.
Hensley was transported to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.
He was not wearing a seat belt.
Speed is being considered a factor in the crash. The incident is still under investigation.
