Topeka, KS : 3 teens injured in Brown County crash on Sunday, January, 21st 2018
Three teens were taken to a Hiawatha hospital after they were injured Sunday night in a one-vehicle crash in Brown County, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 8:39 p.m. just north of 170th and Grasshopper Road, about a half-mile south of Powhattan.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan that was northbound on Grasshopper Road lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and entered a field, where it overturned and came to rest on its side.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jolanda Muriel Simon, 17, of Horton. She was reported injured and was taken to Hiawatha Community Hospital for treatment. The patrol said Simon was wearing a seat belt.
The minivan’s passengers were Mahaley Simon, 15, of Horton, who was reported uninjured and also was taken to Hiawatha Community Hospital. The patrol said she was wearing her seat belt.
The other passenger in the minivan, Jaiden Simon, 13, of Horton, was reported possibly injured and was taken to Hiawatha Communitiy Hospital. The patrol said she also was wearing her seat belt
