Burlington, VT : SUV collides with bicyclist on Shelburne Road on Sunday, April 24, 2016

Police are investigating after a bicyclist was injured in a collision with a sport utility vehicle in Burlington over the weekend.

WCAX-TV reports the accident occurred just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday on Shelburne Road. Police say 58-year-old Sam Norris was biking south in the travel lane when he was struck by an SUV driven by 35-year-old Jacob Barewicz.

Norris suffered injuries to his head, neck and body. He is expected to recover.

Sgt. Wade Labrecque says the preliminary investigation has shown that Norris was riding in the road legally. He says police are unsure if Barewicz was attempting to pass Norris or move into the right hand lane before the collision.

Police officials do not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
