Rolla, MO: 58-year-old truck driver injured in a crash along I-44 on Monday, August 3rd 2015

A 58-year-old truck driver from Illinois was hospitalized after a serious crash on Interstate 44 on Monday afternoon.The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Tzvetan Stefaniachki of Des Plaines, Ill., was driving eastbound on I-44 between Doolittle and Rolla when he went off the right side of the highway about 5:30 p.m.The Doolittle Fire Department says the semi hit a large drainage ditch. The fuel tanks then ruptured and sparked the fire.Bystanders removed the driver from the burning vehicle.The Rolla Fire Department was the initial department dispatched but no fire hydrants were in the area, so mutual aid was requested from the Rolla Rural Fire Protection District and the Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District. Both departments sent a pumper tanker to the scene. An ambulance took the driver to the hospital in Rolla with serious injuries.
