KANSAS CITY, MO : 2 killed, 5 hurt on I-70 head-on collision on Sunday, 14th July 2024
On Sunday, July 14 at 8:30 p.m. the Missouri Highway Patrol responded to a head-on collision on I-70 in Jackson County at mile marker 23.
Both drivers were killed and several passengers injured when a 2023 Hyundai Elantra ran off the left side of the road, crossed the median, hitting a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse going the opposite direction in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70.
Connor J. Souther, 20, of Lexington, Missouri was driving the Hyundai without passengers and killed on impact.
Garret D. Brumley, 56, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri was driving the Chevrolet and also killed instantly. The passengers in Brumley’s vehicle were rushed to the hospital. Three are listed in serious condition, one in moderate condition, and a fifth was listed with minor injuries.
