A 23-year-old man arrested on DUI charges after he crashed into a police car.

Police said Samuel Theis was arrested over the weekend after he crashed into a patrol car on I-40 at the Fairfield Avenue exit.

There were two officers sitting in a police car with the emergency lights on at the time. They were parked on the shoulder behind a broken-down car and were waiting for a tow truck to arrive.

Both officers were injured in the crash. One officer may have suffered a concussion while the other hurt his knee and may have a torn ligament.

Police said Theis also had a small amount of marijuana and a pipe in the car.

He faces four charges, including two counts of vehicular assault.
