Gainesville, FL : Suwannee County man dies in crash in Columbia County early Monday, January 2, 2016

A Suwannee County man died early Monday in a crash in Columbia County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

An FHP news release said Michael O'Malley, 68, of Wellborn, was driving a 2006 Ford Ranger pickup on Northwest Lake Jeffrey Road north of Northwest Bascom Norris Drive at 12:09 a.m. when a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup driven by 30-year-old Jessica Miller of Jasper traveled into the northbound lane, hitting O'Malley's truck head-on.

Miller had incapacitating injuries and was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital, the FHP release said, and O'Malley was killed in the crash.
