SALT LAKE CITY, UT : Fiery semi crash closes Interstate 80 in western Utah on Wednesday, 19th October 2016
Interstate 80 was closed in both directions in western Utah for hours after a semitrailer hit a military vehicle in the road, part of a fiery chain-reaction crash that left two dead near the Nevada border.
The Utah Highway Patrol says a semi hauling a military vehicle east crashed early Wednesday morning on a curve in the highway outside Tooele, about 40 miles west of Salt Lake City.
The crash tossed the military vehicle into the westbound lanes, where a FedEx truck collided with it.
The driver of the military-hauling semi died, as did a passenger in the FedEx truck. The FedEx driver was also hurt.
Traffic was diverted off the highway, leading to long hours-long delays in the area about 100 miles from West Wendover, Nevada.
