Mattoon, IL : Two people injured in motorcycle accident near Douglas-Hart Nature Center on Saturday afternoon, May 7, 2016

A motorcycle driver and passenger were injured when the driver lost control near Douglas-Hart Nature Center on Saturday afternoon.

A report from the Coles County Sheriff's Office said the motorcycle driven by Shayne R. Fuller, 33, 613 Edgar Ave., Mattoon, was westbound on DeWitt Avenue just west of Lerna Road when the accident occurred about 4:50 p.m. Saturday.

The report said the passenger, Misty L. Janssen, 35, of Macomb fell off the motorcycle. She was listed in critical condition Monday at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, according to a Carle representative.

Fuller was also taken to Carle and listed in good condition Monday, the hospital representative said.

Janssen was first taken to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center then transferred to Carle by medical helicopter, the sheriff's office report said.

According to the sheriff's office report, Fuller told officers he lost control of the motorcycle while trying to avoid another vehicle.

It also said witnesses said they heard the motorcycle accelerate rapidly. They said Janssen then fell off the motorcycle and Fuller soon flipped over the front of it after losing control, according to the report.
