Orange County ,FL : 17-year-old arrested in deadly east Orlando hit-and-run crash on Wednesday ,July 1st 2015

A person suspected of killing a man with his car and then fleeing the scene has turned himself into troopers in Orange County.

Investigators believe a 17-year-old boy is responsible for the hit-and-run accident that happened Wednesday night on Lake Underhill Road.

The widow of 58-year-old Bruce Kuiper, Ling Heung told News 13 she and her husband were having car problems, when her husband stepped out to check on the car.

That's when she realized her husband was hit by a Nissan Pathfinder, which she saw speed away.

The boy actually passed the scene where Bruce Kuiper and his wife stopped and then backed up causing the accident that took Kuiper’s life, according to investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol.

Investigators still don’t know why he did it, but say the discovery of the SUV could help them find out.

“We don’t believe this was an intentional act,” Kim Montez, a spokesperson for FHP told News 13. "“The car is a huge step in closing these cases. So for this victim’s wife she can finally get answers as to why her husband was left out there to die.”

Per News 13 crime guidelines, we will not be naming the suspect in this case because he is a minor.
As for why the driver took off, FHP said they suspect he was drinking, but because 2 days have passed, they can’t confirm that yet.

Heung said she trusts the justice system and hopes to find out what actually happened.

"At least now we are closer to finding out the truth," Heung said.

The 17-year-old suspect was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and a 16-year-old in the vehicle is also being questioned.
