The moped driver hit and killed by another vehicle Sunday night has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.
Dudley Harvey Batchelor Jr., 49, was traveling west on on Lake Mead Boulevard near Simmons Street about 9 p.m. when a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling in the same direction collided with the moped and fled the scene, according to North Las Vegas police.
Batchelor was found by a passer-by lying in the road next to the moped and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A witness followed the Tahoe to a nearby Walmart, where police arrested 20-year-old Christian Potter after a brief struggle.
Potter was booked at the Las Vegas City Detention Center on a charge of DUI resulting in death, police said.
This is the ninth fatal crash in North Las Vegas this year.
