Madison, SD : Semi accident reported near Rutland on Tuesday, September 19th 2017

Minimal leakage resulted from an accident approximately three miles west of Rutland on Tuesday night involving a dual-trailer semi carrying fertilizer, according to Lake County Emergency Manager Doug Huntrods.
The accident occurred on 227th St. between 458th and 459th avenues as a storm moved through Lake County.
"I was on my way to Chester [to check on the storm] when I received the report of this," Huntrods said.
He monitored the scene until the damage could be assessed, because the accident could have created an environmental issue which required assistance from the Department of Natural Resources. Huntrods said that when the equipment was removed from the ditch, minimal leakage was observed, so the DNR was not contacted.
