Martinsville, VA : A two vehicle car crash in Pittsylvania County on April, Sunday 30th 2017

A two vehicle car crash on Sunday in Pittsylvania County resulted in the death of a Danville woman.

Anita Louise Robertson, 63, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala after 6 p.m. on Mount Cross Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road, according to Virginia State Police Sgt. Rick Garletts.

The vehicle overcorrected, came back into the roadway, and crossed the center line, Garletts said.

The Chevrolet struck the driver’s side of a 2016 Dodge Ram.

Robertson was ejected out of the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Garletts said.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 16-year-old male, was injured and transported for medical treatment.

Steve Hiatt, 54, was Robertson’s passenger in the Chevrolet. He was injured and also transported for medical attention.

Hiatt and Robertson did not have on a seatbelt at the time of the incident, Garletts said. The teenage driver was wearing his seatbelt.

Fire departments from Brosville, Mount Hermon, Mount Cross and Tunstall responded, as well as the Danville Lifesaving Crew and the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, said incident commander Stewart Moore with Tunstall Fire Department.

Virginia State Police continue investigating the incident.
