Two members of a Lubbock family have been killed and two others were injured in a Monday afternoon car wreck in Desert Center, California.
Police say Kris Deleon, 39, of Lubbock was driving a 2005 Ford Explorer westbound on Interstate 10, east of Cottonwood Springs Road when the Ford's left rear tire blew out, and the driver to lost control of the vehicle.
The Ford traveled to the right, off the roadway and rolled multiple times. During the collision, the right front and left rear passengers were ejected from the vehicle.
The two passengers who were ejected from the Ford were pronounced dead on scene.
Kris Deleon sustained major injuries, and a five month old female passenger sustained minor injuries. They were both air lifted to the Riverside University Health System.
This collision is still under investigation.
Police say alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, but the two parties that died in the collision were not properly restrained in seatbelts. The two survivors were restrained properly.
