Oklahoma man dies in accident south of Orick in California

An Oklahoma man died in a motorcycle accident south of Orick on Highway 101, the California Highway Patrol announced Monday.According to a press release, Creg Newman, 49, of Stilwell, Okla. was driving a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound when he ran off the roadway and into a tree south of Kane Road at around 6 p.m. on Saturday. He suffered fatal injuries.The release states that Newman was wearing a helmet not approved by the Department of Transport for motorcycle riding, and the cause of the collision is under investigation by the CHP.
