Orlando, FL : 1 dead in crash on Boggy Creek Road near SR 417 on Wednesday afternoon, February 1, 2017

One person died in a crash near State Road 417 involving a semi-truck Wednesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Howard Schwartz, 66, was driving a Mazda car south on Boggy Creek Road near Wetherbee Road at 1:09 p.m. when for an unknown reason he veered into oncoming traffic and struck a semi-truck driven by Luis Reimundi Hernandez, 44, head-on.

The FHP said the collision caused Hernandez to travel off the shoulder of the road and overturn, crushing the cab of the truck.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. Schwartz was reported to have suffered serious injuries.

Boggy Creek Road was blocked as crews worked to clear the crash.
