Phoenix, AZ : Skateboarder killed in hit and run crash near Gantzel and Chandler Heights Road on Sunay, September 21, 2014

An 18-year-old has died after being hit while riding his skateboard in San Tan Valley, the driver who hit him drove away. Deputies in Pinal County are now trying to track down the driver. On Sunday the Pinal County Sheriff's Office received a call of the crash near Gantzel and Chandler Heights Road. Responders found the teen who was struck by a vehicle and launched 15 feet away from the point he was hit. The victim was airlifted to a Phoenix area hospital, but he died from his injuries Monday evening. Witnesses say a white SUV was driving erratically in the area when it struck the victim, the driver continued without stopping to check on the teen. Sheriff Paul Babeu said, "The witness described the vehicle as a white sports utility vehicle. PCSO Vehicular Crimes Detectives responded and conducted the investigation. The suspect vehicle should have damage to the right front end as a result of hitting the victim on the skateboard. We are asking for help from the public to identify the driver and location of the vehicle. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family."
