Knoxville,TN : One woman airlifted to Hospital after Crash along Interstate 26 near mile marker 52 in Sam's Gap on Thursday evening ,March 12th 2015

One woman was airlifted to the hospital after a crash on Interstate 26.

Tennessee Highway Patrol tells us the call came in around 5:42pm Thursday.

Trooper Suzanne Masoner says a car ran off the interstate near mile marker 52 in Sam's Gap. She believes the car went more than 300 feet down an embankment before coming to a stop.

The driver was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center's Trauma Unit. We're told she was awake and answering questions.

THP says the car had a Nebraska license plate.

They tell us they will wait until daylight to retrieve the car.
