Close friends remember Trenton family killed in car crash

A North Georgia family is mourning the loss of three loved ones after a deadly car accident.
A Trenton man and his two daughters were killed Friday morning after their car crashed on Interstate 24 near the Tennessee-Kentucky line.

38-old Michael Mahan and his two daughters, 11-year-old Meagan and 15-year-old Savannah did not survive the crash.

"About an hour later she called back to let us know it was true," says Jennifer Crowe, holding back tears.
Crowe is a close friend of the family. She says the news was hard to hear.

Police say Mahan was driving on Interstate 24 Westbound when, for unknown reasons, he crossed into the Eastbound lanes. His car crashed into a U-haul truck.
Eleven-year-old Meagan died on the scene. Michael and Savannah passed away at the hospital.
"Why? Just why? I mean, they're two small children. And they were so sweet and precious," says Crowe.

Jennifer says Meagan and Savannah recently became a part of her family by marriage and she was enjoying getting to know the girls.
"Savannah was like a little sister to me. If she had a problem she would call and talk to me about it."

"Just to get that news would tear any parent up," says Jeremy Crowe.Both Jennifer and her husband Jeremy say their thoughts and prayers are with the family, especially with the mother of Meagan and Savannah.

"All I can do is wrap my arms around her and tell her we love her," says Jeremy.
