Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania
The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating an early morning motorcycle crash in the old mill village that killed a Lancaster man.
The body of Jonathan William Johnson, 33, of 6177 Shiloh Unity Road, was found about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday at the edge of some woods near a Todd Street home by utility workers repairing a clipped power pole, according to Jennifer Collins of the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
“We believe the wreck happened sometime between 2 and 3 a.m.,” said Collins, who was at the scene with Deputy Coroner Tony Broome.
Todd Street runs between the 100 block of Brooklyn Avenue and South Avenue. There is only one house on the street.
S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Gary Miller said Johnson was riding a 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 motorcycle and headed south on Todd Street when he ran off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.
Johnson, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene, Miller said.
“That’s all the information we have at this time,” Miller said.
Collins said an autopsy to determine Johnson’s cause of death is set for Thursday.
