Dingmans Ferry woman died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash
Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania
A Dingmans Ferry woman died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Pike County.
The state police in Blooming Grove reported that a vehicle driven by Jonathan Woodruff, 36, of Milford, was traveling north on Route 739 when he crossed the double yellow line and struck another vehicle head-on around 5:30 p.m. The second vehicle was driven by Patricia Edwards, 53, of Dingmans Ferry. Edwards was traveling southbound on Route 739 and tried to avoid the collision by steering to the left, police said.
Edwards and her passenger, Lisa Voighman, 33, also of Dingmans Ferry, were injured in the crash and were taken to Pocono Medical Center. Edwards died at the hospital. Voighman sustained moderate injuries. They were wearing their seatbelts, as was Woodruff, police said.
Woodruff sustained minor injuries. Police said he showed signs of intoxication at the scene and was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The case is still being investigated, and charges will be filed pending the toxicology report, police said.
Dingman Township Fire Department, Delaware Township EMS and Atlantic EMS assisted at the scene.
