Raleigh, N.C : Motorcyclist killed in fatal Cameron Village collision on Monday, October 27, 2014

A motorcyclist killed in a traffic collision at Raleigh's Cameron Village was traveling the posted speed limit when he collided with a vehicle that drove into his path. De'Andre Jamar Jackson, 22, was traveling westbound on Clark Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Monday when he approached the intersection with Daniels Street, police said. A wreck report released by Raleigh police said Jackson was traveling at the posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour when a 1998 Lexus LS400 driven by Ernestine Leach attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Daniels Street. The Lexus reached 10 miles per hour when it pulled into the path of Jackson's motorcycle. The wreck report said Jackson hit the front brake and slowed to 25 miles per hour when his motorcycle hit the Lexus. Jackson died at Wake Medical Center. Leach and her passengers, Beverly Wells, 66, and William Bland, 65, did not sustain any injuries. Leach had alcohol in her system but was not legally impaired, the wreck report said. No alcohol test was administered by police. Leach was arrested for misdemeanor death by vehicle and transported to the Wake County Detention Center.
