Memphis, TN : Two people dead and one person critically injured in an early Tuesday morning fatal accident where a car crashed through two yards on September 16th 2014
Police were called to an early morning fatal accident where a car crashed through two yards along Rhodes Avenue and Wedgewood Street in Memphis.
Witnesses say at least three passengers were in the white 1996 Chevrolet Corvette, which is only designed to fit two people.
According to police, two people were thrown from the car and one person was trapped in the car when crews arrived on the scene.
A 46-year-old man died on the scene. Two people were taken to Regional Medical Center, where a 24-year-old man died and a third man, 38, is in critical condition.
Police have not positively identified the two men who died.
The crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday.
Witnesses say the car went into one yard, knocking over a trash can, before veering into a second yard, where it hit the curb and flipped over. The crash also took out a light pole.
Shamika Newsom described what she saw moments after the crash.
"I saw the car zoom past and by the time that we got up here, all we seen was the car laying here," she said.
As of Tuesday afternoon, police were still investigating whether alcohol was involved.
