Baltimore, MD : An accident in Brooklyn Park on Tuesday, August 22, 2017

Police are looking for the driver of a car who ran from an accident in Brooklyn Park on Tuesday that killed a 90-year-old woman.

Anne Arundel County police officers saw a black Acura TLX run a stop sign at 4th and Edison streets at 8:48 p.m. and attempted to pull the driver over.

The driver sped away, police said, eluding officers by crossing over Ritchie Highway onto Morgan Road.

As the pursuing officers approached Morgan Road at 15th Avenue, they saw the Acura had collided with another vehicle, a Chevrolet Cobalt.

Police said the driver ran from the scene of the accident as they arrived. The driver escaped despite a search that included K-9 units and a police helicopter.

The crash killed a passenger in the other car — Helen Marguerite Kotchen, 90, of Brooklyn Park. She died at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The driver of the other car, Stephen John Kotchen Jr., 57, also of Brooklyn Park, was in serious condition Wednesday, police said.

Investigators found 15.89 grams of suspected crack cocaine inside the Acura along with $750 in cash.

Police have not been able to identify the driver of the Acura, but have identified the owner as a Glen Burnie woman.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call police at 410-222-8755.
