GATES, NY : 2 dead, 1 hospitalized following rollover crash in Gates on Wednesday, 23rd September, 2020

Two people are dead and one person is hospitalized following a rollover crash in Gates, and police say they're "pursuing charges" against one of the drivers.

The crash happened on Spencerport Road, between Joli Lane and Steve Drive, around 11 a.m. Wednesday. Police say an SUV hit a pickup truck head-on after the truck drifted out of its lane.

When they arrived, Gates Police Lt. Long said fire crews began extricating due to the amount of damage. Ridge Road Fire District was called in for help as multiple people were trapped.

According to Long, the two people in the SUV were pronounced dead on the scene. The third person in the pickup truck was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
