VICTORVILLE, CA : A motorcyclist suffered minor injuriesin a crash on Thursday, August 3, 2017
A motorcyclist suffered minor injuries Thursday afternoon in a crash at Bear Valley and Dunia roads, authorities said.
The motorcyclist was traveling west on Bear Valley Road at approximately noon when a red Mustang pulled out in front of him from the Chipotle driveway, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials.
Though he swerved to try to avoid it, the motorcyclist collided with the back, left end of the Mustang and thereafter rolled with his bike, resulting in him suffering “road rash,” authorities said.
The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, authorities said.
The driver of the Mustang, who requested anonymity, said he was relieved because it “could have been a lot worse.”
“I didn’t even see the bike,” the driver said. “Then I saw in my mirror something coming really fast and I saw the motorcycle’s back tire go up in the air, like he was breaking really hard.”
Two teenagers who claim to have been standing on the sidewalk corner just outside Chipotle said they “saw everything,” including another car they said “drove off,” though authorities on scene could not confirm this information.
“There was a white car ... When the light turned green, the white car sped up and cut off the motorcycle,” Ezekiel Lathan, 16, said. “His back tire lifted off the ground before he crashed.”
Krystallyne Curto, 17, said the motorcyclist — who she believed to be 24 years old — hit his shoulder on the ground and rolled several times with his bike before coming to a stop.
