East Farmingdale NY : 60 years old man critically injured in tuesday just before 11 pm car crash.
East Farmingdale, New York
A homeless man in his 60s was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in East Farmingdale on Tuesday night just before 11 p.m.
Suffolk County Police say the man was walking on Wellwood Avenue when he was struck by a 2008 Mercedes Benz driven by Oliver David of Freeport.
"I hit him, he went straight into my window it went boom," says David.
David said it all happened so quickly, and the glass came on top of him, and went into his eyes and mouth.
David then flew out of his car, saw the man's lifeless body on Wellwood Avenue, and saw another car headed in their direction.
"The guy just rolled right over him, both tires, - boom boom," David said.
The victim's body was then dragged several feet.
"When he rolled over the body, he went and put his hazard lights on, so I stopped to tell everyone else to go around," adds David, "but when I turned around, I didn't see him no more."
David says the car looked like an older model Nissan Altima. He says he can't get the entire thing out of his head. "It got me all night, I didn't sleep last night," he said.
The victim was transported by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is being treated for head and internal injuries.
